This year, more than 60 American flags line the historic Wood Streets from Larchwood Place to Elmwood Place in Riverside, California. An additional 30 flags along Magnolia Avenue are sponsored by Ward 1 Councilman Phillip Falcone. All are installed by volunteers and funded by neighbors and residents.
About the Project
A neighborhood project,
raised by many hands.
The Wood Streets Flag Project is a volunteer-driven effort that installed more than 60 American flags this year from Larchwood Place to Elmwood Place in Riverside's historic Wood Streets neighborhood.
An additional 30 flags along Magnolia Avenue are sponsored by Ward 1 Councilman Phillip Falcone, expanding the display and celebrating the same spirit of patriotism across the area.
All of the Wood Street flags have been funded by neighbors and residents. Every flag is installed, maintained, removed, and stored entirely by volunteers.

The Spark
One idea, one neighborhood
This year, a few Wood Streets neighbors imagined a simple way to celebrate the neighborhood's pride and history. A single flag went up. Then another. Then a whole block.
The First Season
A community joins in
Word traveled quickly. Neighbors offered flags, hardware, and their time. In a matter of months, the display grew to more than 60 flags across the historic Wood Streets.
Today
60+ flags, one community
More than 60 flags now rise from Larchwood Place to Elmwood Place — installed, maintained, removed, and carefully stored by an all-volunteer crew of neighbors, friends, and family. An additional 30 flags along Magnolia Avenue are sponsored by Ward 1 Councilman Phillip Falcone.

Multiple generations now take part — grandparents on the sidewalk, parents on ladders, kids carrying flags. Every flag on every pole is the work of a neighbor.
